Photos and privacy
This page explains how the current version of FuelLog handles photos of odometers, receipts, fuel prices and service documents.
Where photos stay
Photos remain local on the user's device in the app's internal storage. Gallery or temporary inputs are copied into app storage when saved so they remain available after restart.
OCR
Text recognition is processed locally using Google ML Kit. FuelLog does not upload receipt, odometer or fuel price photos to its own backend for OCR.
Backups and cloud
A manual ZIP backup may include app-owned photos so receipts and service documents can be restored when moving to another device. In the current version, Cloud Backup (PRO) stores database history but does not upload physical attachment photos.
If Android system backup or device transfer is enabled, app-owned photos may be included in the system backup according to Android rules and the user's settings.
Photo recommendations
- photograph only what is needed for vehicle records;
- do not photograph people;
- do not photograph identity documents;
- for receipts, check whether you want to hide data that is not needed for the record;
- for odometers, try to photograph only the display or dashboard.
